Juan Arambula, a Fresno Democrat, and Mike Villines, a Clovis Republican, can’t agree on a state budget, but they do agree that Ashley Swearengin should be the next mayor of Fresno.

The two Assembly members were the featured guests Friday night at a Swearengin fundraiser at Pardini’s restaurant in north Fresno. Swearengin’s campaign expected nearly 300 people to attend the event, which they said was sold out.

Fresno County schools Superintendent Larry Powell was the emcee, and the keynote speaker was Brian King, CEO of Fresno Street Saints, a faith-based organization that is working to keep young people out of gangs.
